Grace Lutheran School’s     2012-2013 Chapel Designation

Each year we collect donations for a designated local charitable foundation or organization. This year we gathered fund, and supplies for Project Nightlight.

Our Mission

Children suffering abuse or neglect are left feeling insecure and unsure of themselves and the people around them. Project Night-Light strives to give these young victims a piece of security.  Every item placed in their personal Bag of Hope has a special purpose other then the obvious daily uses. This could be allowing their caregiver time to wash their daily outfit to having control over something as simple as a flashlight.

These items are theirs to keep helping ease the transition of the traumatic and frightening situation they are forced to deal with unexpectedly.  We feel every item in the bag is a valuable tool to the betterment of a child’s life. Because so many of the hurting children feel used, we only place new items in the bag.

We strive for quality in every bag in hopes of showing these little victims that we find them VALUABLE.  However due to the vast number of children in need, we will only succeed if the people around us get behind this worthy cause!  Please partner with us to share Light in a dark place!

What do we do?

WE BRING HOPE THROUGH A NEEDED GIFT

Project Night-Light is an organization, based out of the Fargo-Moorhead North Dakota area, through which children are provided important items needed when they are examined by their Local Advocacy Center or Hospital for Physical Abuse, Sexual Abuse or Neglect.

In 2008 over 4000 children were seen around the state of North Dakota for Abuse or Neglect and it is the goal of Project Night-Light to equip each child that enters a hospital or Advocacy Center to be seen for these reasons with a “Bag of Hope.” Every “Bag of Hope” includes:

◦     Fleece Tie Blanket

◦      Pajamas / Socks / Underwear

◦     2-in-1 Shampoo / Conditioner

◦      Toothbrush / Toothpaste

◦     Fruit Snacks / Water Bottle

◦     Flashlight

◦     Book: “You Are Special” by Max Lucado

◦     Zipper Tote Bag to hold all their new special items

◦     (Teen Girl bags also include deodorant and a personal journal)

Often children in these situations are left feeling insecure and unsure of themselves and the people around them. Through Project Night-Light we give them a small piece of security. Because so many of the hurting children feel used only new items are placed in the bags.

Every item that is placed in their personal bag has a special purpose other than the obvious daily uses. This could be allowing their caregiver time to wash their daily outfit to giving the child control over something as simple as a flashlight. We feel every item on this list is a valuable tool to the betterment of a child’s life. However, due to the vast number of children in need we will only succeed if the people around us get behind this worthy cause! Please partner with us to share Light in a dark place.

Our Founder

SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTANDS AND IS DETERMINED TO HELP

Pebbles Thompson and her family came to realize the need to bring hope to children and families experiencing abuse in the Fargo/Moorhead area in February of 2008. With a heart for children coming from rough homes, Pebbles looked at her community and discovered the fact that children would leave investigative doctors appointments with very little if any dignity only compounding the stress and shame of abuse. In the most practical ways possible, Pebbles with the help of her family and friends, sought to provide simple things to restore this dignity and even bring joy in the midst of most dreary circumstances. As a mother of four and minister in the Assemblies of God, Pebbles has assembled a team who want to see that no child feels left alone in the darkness of abuse.

An incredible speaker who draws on personal experience and observations, Pebbles is available for speaking engagements to raise awareness for this ministry as well as the need to find ways to broadcast the hope we have in Jesus to members of your community.
